To love and to lose (dedicated to Nandos)

Why are we so afraid to fall in love?

Why are we so scared to admit to our feelings?

When did we start fearing heart break even before the heart could open up to something?

Is it the fear of losing someone, after you show your most vulnerable version to them? Is it the scary past haunting you and not letting you let go of everything? Is it the possibility of seperation to choose career? Is it the societal gap of rich and poor, fear of acceptance, fear of getting judged for something you fell head over heels for without your knowledge?

What exactly stops us from living in this moment, sharing popcorn with that someone while watching that sitcom? What stops us from calling that someone in the middle of the night to just tell them you missed them? What stops us from looking into the eyes of that person and feeling — ”wow, could this get anymore beautiful?” What stops us from complimenting that someone that they look prettier than the sunset in the beach?

Nothing! Except for our irrational fears. Our internal conflict arising from the past and the people around. Our inability to realise that love doesn’t happen when everything is perfect, love happens when you see that someone giggling over your stupidity and still accepting you the way you are. Find that one moment and cherish that moment. For it’s better to have loved and lost, than to not have loved at all.
